This was one of those pieces that ended up being COMPLETELY different from what I had started with. I sat down to do a simple character piece, and ended up with a fairly dramatic, evil ravaged war-torn painting. Hahah…In any case, I went back and forth several times, trying my hardest to decide which final direction to take it in – When the painting was complete, I had a fairly colorful piece, but then I did some manipulation and ended up with another version, much darker and higher contrast (the one pictured here). Looking at it now, I think it works pretty well as a dramatic scene. Hopefully I can find some time to explore the character further, perhaps inserting him into the ravaged landscape behind him.
